History
The Folland Gnat was a compact, swept-wing British subsonic jet trainer and light fighter, developed by Folland for the RAF and extensively operated by the Indian Air Force. Its design facilitated construction without the need for specialised tools, making it suitable for countries with less industrialisation. Although the RAF did not use it as a fighter, the Gnat T.1 trainer was widely utilised and became closely associated with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, famously known as the Red Arrows, who flew this model from 1965 to 1979.
