1:35 plastic model kits: the armour scale
The Airfix range leans Cold War British: the Ferret scout cars, Saracen and the Stalwart carriers, with the Cromwell holding the WW2 end. The full armour story, most of it 1:76, sits under tank model kits, with vehicles for everything else on wheels or tracks.
Can you mix 1:35 and 1:76 kits in one display?
Not convincingly: a 1:35 vehicle stands more than twice as tall and long as its 1:76 twin, so side by side they read as parent and child. Pick one scale per scene. 1:35 rewards single-vehicle detail; 1:76 is built for groups, dioramas and railway layouts.
Which vehicles come in 1:35 scale?
A tight, mostly post-war set: the Ferret Mk.1 and Mk.2 scout cars, the Saracen Mk.5, the Stalwart Mk.2 and its limber, plus the WW2 Cromwell, and a mystery tank bundle for the brave. The range above is always current.
Do Airfix 1:35 kits match other manufacturers' armour?
Yes, and that's much of the point. 1:35 is the international armour standard, so the Ferret, Saracen or Cromwell here stands in true scale next to any other maker's vehicles. If your shelf already holds armour in the world's favourite scale, these kits slot straight in.
