The MiG 17 stands out as a prominent post-war Soviet jet fighter design, highly sought after by Warsaw Pact countries eager to enhance their air defence capabilities. These Polish-produced MiG-17s were designated as Lim-5, translating to 'Licence built aircraft No.5'. In the hands of an adept pilot, these jets remained formidable opponents against Western aircraft.
