History
The Mary Rose was a carrack-style vessel in the English Tudor Navy under King Henry VIII. She served for 33 years in various conflicts against France, Scotland, and Brittany, meeting her fate on 19 July 1545. During an assault on the French invasion fleet's galleys, she sank in the Solent. Today, she is displayed in a remarkable new exhibition at Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard.
