History
The British 1st Airborne Division was established in December 1940 to provide the Allied forces with a specialised parachute unit. Their unique identifiers were the maroon beret and a shoulder patch depicting Bellerophon riding the winged horse Pegasus, a symbol that became synonymous with British airborne prowess during the Second World War. These paratroopers took part in some of the most audacious and crucial missions of the war, gaining a formidable reputation for their bravery and determination.
This particular set is a genuine piece of Airfix history, with mould tools crafted in 1972 and packaging artwork by William Stallion from the same year, making it a nostalgic addition to any collection that honours the golden era of scale modelling.
