History
The Landing Craft Mechanised (LCM) Mk.III was the most extensively used LCM during the Second World War, with over 8,600 constructed in American shipyards. Utilised by both the US Navy and the Royal Navy, the LCM Mk.III played a significant role in operations across the European and Pacific fronts starting in 1942, with numerous units participating in the "D-Day" landings in Normandy in June 1944.
The Sherman M4A2 Tank, the most recognised of American medium tanks, was developed in 1941 as an enhancement of the earlier M3 Lee and Grant models. Following initial production in 1942, a substantial number of Shermans were distributed to the British Army, establishing it as the standard medium tank for Allied forces. The LCM3 & Sherman combination was heavily relied upon during the war, serving a pivotal role in amphibious operations throughout World War II.
