History

By 1940, the Supermarine Spitfire had become the preferred interceptor for Fighter Command. Capable of exceeding speeds of 360mph, it was renowned for its exceptional agility. As an outstanding dog-fighter, the Spitfire Mark I is recognised as a symbol of The Few, crucial to defending the United Kingdom against the previously dominant Luftwaffe. Alongside the Hurricane, it secured its legacy during the Battle of Britain.
