History

The formidable German Tiger 1 made its debut in the Autumn of 1942 as the most sophisticated tank of its time, engineered to dominate the battlefield. It had the capability to eliminate any Allied tank from a distance, allowing it to strike without being vulnerable to return fire. However, the Wehrmacht never fully capitalised on the Tiger's potential due to its over-engineered design, complexity, and high production costs, resulting in limited numbers on the battlefield.

From 1942 to 1944, only 1,347 Tiger 1s were built. Despite being one of the finest tanks ever made, it was unable to counter the growing numbers of Allied tanks. This disparity is highlighted by the fact that American factories produced over 49,000 Sherman Tanks during WWII.
