A pioneer in aviation, Bessie Coleman faced many unimaginable challenges in her journey to achieve her international pilot’s license. Starting from a life of poverty and segregation to becoming a renowned stunt pilot and media sensation, Bessie’s determination and courage is a testament to her character. Despite facing the challenges of racism and limited opportunities, Bessie inspired generations of African Americans to pursue their dreams, particularly in aviation, breaking barriers in the process.

Although Bessie’s dreams of opening a flying school for Black aviators was tragically cut short when she died in a plane crash at just 34 years old, her legacy lives on and she continues to inspire and shape the aviation world today.
