- Assembled wingspan measures 237mm
- Captures the distinctive early P-40B short-nose design

History
In the initial phases of WWII, the American-manufactured Curtiss P-40B emerged as a crucial fighter aircraft for the Allied Air Forces. Operating with the RAF in North Africa and the American Volunteer Group in China, the Allison V-1710-33 powered P-40B became one of the most recognisable fighters of the war, adorned with its intimidating shark-mouth design.
The early P-40 models were perhaps the most visually striking, with their menacing silhouette - characterised by a shorter, pointed nose and the deep roar of the Allison V-1710 engine, the P-40B (known as Tomahawk IIa in RAF service) resembled airborne Great White sharks. In 1941, RAF No.112 Squadron of the Desert Air Force added menacing shark teeth and eyes to their aircraft, inadvertently transforming their Tomahawks into some of the most iconic and visually striking aircraft of WWII. This trend in aircraft decoration spread widely during the war, but it was the RAF Desert Air Force that initiated it.

History
The North American P-51 Mustang stands as one of the most famous American fighters from the Second World War. Initially crafted to meet an RAF requirement, the Mustang's capabilities were significantly enhanced with the integration of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. The P-51D variant's extended range and formidable armament made it an excellent escort fighter, capable of safeguarding bombers on missions to Berlin and back. The P-51 holds the record as the highest-scoring Allied fighter of the conflict, with 4,950 enemy planes downed. In 1948, its designation was updated to F-51D, and it continued to serve in the USAF and RAAF as a ground attack aircraft during the Korean War.
The Mustang Mk.IV was the RAF's designation for the P-51K version, which featured a different propeller manufacturer compared to the P-51D. This variant excelled in Royal Air Force units, showcasing the outstanding performance that made the Mustang a preferred choice among Allied pilots in various air forces.

Boulton Paul Defiant NF.I
Product code: A05132
Enhance your collection with the 1:48 scale Boulton Paul Defiant NF.I, a standout nightfighter from the Second World War. This model kit includes 113 components and offers two different scheme options, showcasing the unique turret-armed design that made the Defiant an unconventional aircraft.
Key Features
- 1:48 scale model featuring 113 parts for a comprehensive build
- Two scheme options to recreate various historical versions
- Skill level 2, appropriate for ages 8 and over
- Wingspan measures 250mm when assembled
- Faithful depiction of the all-black nightfighter variant
- Intricate gun turret, the hallmark of this distinctive fighter
- Constructed primarily from high-quality plastic
History
The Boulton Paul Defiant, initially outperformed as a day fighter during the Battle of Britain, was reassigned to counter the Luftwaffe's night bombing raids over Britain. Lacking initial night combat training, Defiant crews had to innovate interception strategies during combat, finding the aircraft better suited to nocturnal engagements.
Despite early successes against Luftwaffe pilots unfamiliar with the turret fighter, Defiant crews soon encountered the aircraft's limitations. The heavy gun turret and limited defensive firing range allowed German Messerschmitts to develop effective attack strategies. As losses increased, the RAF shifted Defiants to night operations, where they were less exposed and could leverage their firepower more effectively.
During the intense night Blitz on London, Defiant crews developed their own interception methods, achieving victories against Luftwaffe bombers and contributing to a robust night defence system, thus restoring the Defiant's reputation. These all-black nightfighters became some of the most iconic RAF aircraft of the era.

Comprising 107 plastic components, this level 3 model kit provides a detailed construction experience with a wingspan of 205mm, and includes three genuine paint schemes for hobbyists aged 8 and older.

- Level 3 build complexity suitable for modellers aged 8 years and up
- Completed model features an impressive 205mm wingspan

- Detailed depiction of the iconic Bf109E-3/E-4 models
History
As the seasoned Bf109 pilots of the Luftwaffe commenced operations against Britain post-Dunkirk evacuation, they encountered a new disadvantage. With fuel reserves allowing only short durations over England, any mechanical failure or combat damage often led to capture, accelerating the end of their mission.
The Bf109 E emerged in late 1938 as a significant evolution of Willy Messerschmitt's famed aircraft design. The earlier Junkers Jumo 210 engine was replaced with the larger, more potent Daimler Benz DB601, requiring enhanced cooling systems and relocated radiators within the strengthened wings. During the summer of 1940, the Bf109 E became synonymous with the Luftwaffe, engaging in intense dogfights with the RAF's Spitfires and Hurricanes over the English Channel and southern England.
The E-3 and E-4 variants boasted improved weapon configurations, with the E-4 introducing the advanced MG FF/M cannon capable of firing explosive Minengeschoß rounds. These aircraft were integral to many of the Luftwaffe's esteemed Jagdgeschwader units during the Battle of Britain, where they faced the strategic challenge of defending bomber formations while operating at the edge of their fuel limits. Despite their technical advantages in certain areas, this operational limitation was a crucial factor in the battle's outcome.

History
As a shining silver aircraft flown by Britain's bravest young pilots, the Bristol Bulldog was a significant British aircraft during the inter-war years, a time when biplane fighters dominated the skies.
Originally conceived as a private project by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, the Bulldog was the creation of skilled designer Frank Barnwell, who also designed the successful Bristol F.2B Fighter during the Great War. This lightweight, all-metal, fabric-covered fighter was powered by a 440hp Bristol Jupiter engine.
The Bulldog was equipped with two forward-firing Vickers 0.303 in machine guns positioned on either side of the cockpit, but it never engaged in combat during its brief seven-year service with Fighter Command.
Despite being the most advanced fighter of its time, the Bulldog became known for its challenging formation flying and impressive aerobatics, with the Royal Air Force captivating large audiences at airshows and events nationwide, showcasing the capabilities of a modernising air force.
