History

After the triumph of NASA's Apollo programme, the next step in their space exploration journey was to create a partially reusable, low-earth orbital space transportation system. This innovation aimed to send more astronauts into space, pushing the limits of engineering brilliance.
To ensure the spacecraft functioned as designed, a million individual parts needed to operate in harmony. Over three decades, five Space Shuttles successfully reached earth orbit, with 'Discovery' being the most frequently used.
This remarkable spacecraft undertook 39 missions and spent a total of 365 days in space.
